Meet Nancy Hand Nancy Hand of Made By Hand has been designing, redesigning and altering wedding dresses professionally since 1992. Nancy first fell in love with sewing when she was twelve, though. She said, “I love assisting the bride with her dream dress, whether it’s making one from scratch or altering a dress she already loves. My favorite words are, “It is perfect!” Nancy has also helped moms, dads, bridesmaids, groomsmen and even grooms look their best. One of Nancy’s other specialties is costumes for dance troupes. Andy Hebert, our long-time dance instructor at Heart of Rock Farm’s Barn Dances, is a former pro-competitor. As such, she likes for her dance outfits to be expertly-tailored. Andy said, “Nancy’s work is impeccable. She’s has made significant alterations for me over the past couple of years. Nancy is my go-to gal.” Andy added, “Nancy has beautifully redesigned a number of my outfits. I keep going back to her, over and over with new challenges, and NEVER does she disappoint! She is very gifted.” If you’re thinking about having a dress made, or if you have questions about what can or can’t be altered, you’ll want to spend a few minutes with Nancy at our Open House on April 14th. If you’re after a retro look, especially if you’re considering having an older dress re-designed, definitely talk to Nancy. She knows the ins and outs of that subject. In fact, Nancy is bringing along a vintage 1980’s-era gown she designed and sewed. It will be on display during the open house, along with more photos of her past work. Worth mentioning, too…Nancy will be bringing photos of some of the themed-wedding dresses she’s worked on, including a pirate-themed wedding and one that included costumes of the 17th century.
